ARISE+ IPR – ANNUAL WORK PLAN
The ARISE Plus Intellectual Property Rights (ARISE+ IPR) programme is one of the components under the Enhanced ASEAN Regional Integration Support from the European Union, or ARISE Plus. The five-year, €5.5 million ARISE+ IPR programme supports regional integration through intellectual property cooperation and aims to upgrade the IP systems for creation, protection, utilisation, administration and enforcement, in line with international best practices and standards and the strategic objectives of the ASEAN Intellectual Property Rights Action Plan 2016-2025.
The programme is aimed at regional activities in ASEAN as a whole, promoting regional harmonisation, convergence of practices, and cooperation among the ASEAN Member States on intellectual property within the framework of the ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint 2025. ARISE+ IPR focuses on trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications, and IP enforcement.
The ARISE+ IPR programme comprises four components:
- Expected Result 1: Enhanced regional IP platforms and network of strengthened and more efficient ASEAN IP Offices delivering timely, quality and accessible trademark and design services to stakeholders, including the business community.
- Expected Result 2: Effective participation of the ASEAN Member States (AMS) in global protection systems and other relevant international treaties in the IP field.
- Expected Result 3: Increased awareness on the importance of IP protection in the ASEAN society and improved capacity of the productive sector to create, protect, utilize, commercialize and enforce their IP rights in the ASEAN region.
- Expected Result 4: Strengthened capacity of the IP administration in Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar to fully participate in the project initiatives and promote innovation in their countries.
ARISE+ IPR is implementing 19 activities during Annual Work Plan 5, from May 2022 to April 2023. The activities were identified through a comprehensive consultation process with the ASEAN Member States and the ASEAN Secretariat, as well as other key stakeholders in the region.
