Training on design examination

The online capacity building activity on design examination is co-organised with the IP cooperation project IP KEY Latin America and aims to enhance the skills of IP registrars, particularly industrial design examiners, of the IP offices of the MERCOSUR countries and Chile, as well as other Latin American countries.

The 2-day training, delivered by EUIPO experts, aims to extend EU methodologies and procedures in design examination by addressing topics such as:

• registrability requirements such as novelty and originality;
• partial object registration;
• dual protection through industrial designs and copyright;
• creative aspects of technological designs, including graphical user interface (GUI) and icon designs.
