Workshop on Patents Focused on Emerging Technologies in ASEAN

Activity 8 provides support to AMS in addressing new patent applications related to emerging technologies. The workshop will serve as a forum for discussing future patent initiatives and assessing strategies to meet objectives in this evolving field.

The activity supports Initiatives 9 and 10 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan, which focus on improving service delivery through connected online systems and adopting modern information technologies.

GI for ASEAN Countries – Prospects and Challenges

Activity 9 aims to enhance the capacity of IP officials and geographical indication (GI) producers in the ASEAN region to effectively use and manage the GI system. It includes organising a seminar or conference with ASEAN and international GI experts to discuss the benefits of robust GI systems, provide updates on the status of ASEAN GI systems and offer insights on developing the GI system at EU level.

The activity focuses on increasing the technical capacities of ASEAN IP offices and related authorities.

IPO staff expert-meetings session II of 2024: Knowledge exchanges on Guidelines for examination of trade marks in MERCOSUR countries and Chile

The event is organised by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) by means of the EU-funded IP cooperation project AL-INVEST Verde IPR, in close collaboration with the national IP offices of the MERCOSUR countries and Chile.

The main topic of this session is the development, implementation, maintenance and governance of Guidelines for examination of trade marks. Objectives include enhancing intellectual property management in Latin America and contributing to improved operational excellence in core IPO processes.
