Activity 8 provides support to AMS in addressing new patent applications related to emerging technologies. The workshop will serve as a forum for discussing future patent initiatives and assessing strategies to meet objectives in this evolving field.

The activity supports Initiatives 9 and 10 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan, which focus on improving service delivery through connected online systems and adopting modern information technologies.

Activity 9 aims to enhance the capacity of IP officials and geographical indication (GI) producers in the ASEAN region to effectively use and manage the GI system. It includes organising a seminar or conference with ASEAN and international GI experts to discuss the benefits of robust GI systems, provide updates on the status of ASEAN GI systems and offer insights on developing the GI system at EU level.

The activity focuses on increasing the technical capacities of ASEAN IP offices and related authorities.

This activity provides a platform for enhancing the capacities of ASEAN IPR enforcement authorities and raising awareness about online challenges to IP rights protection. It will address the evolving techniques of online hackers and cybercriminals, ensuring law enforcement agencies are up to date with current cyber threats.

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) organised the European Intellectual Property Prosecutors Network (EIPPN) international workshop on IP Crime prosecution on 12 and 13 September 2024, with the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

As of 16 September 2024, the National Industrial Property Office of the Dominican Republic (ONAPI) has made its trade mark data available in the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) TMview search tool.

With the addition of more than 298 000 trade marks from ONAPI, TMview now provides information and access to more than 125,3 million trade marks in total, from 78 participating offices.

Following a competitive selection process involving agri-food producer groups from different regions in Paraguay, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the co-funding and implementing agency of the AL-INVEST Verde IPR project financed by the European Commission, and the National Intellectual Property Directorate of Paraguay (DINAPI), announced the selected producer group to receive specialised mentoring support to optimise the use of geographical indications (GIs):

Following a competitive selection process, involving 17 agri-food producer groups from 12 provinces across Argentina, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), co-funding and implementing agency of the AL-INVEST Verde IPR project financed by the European Commission, and the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy of Argentina, selected the producer groups to receive specialised mentoring to optimise the use of geographical indicati
