This activity supports the development and publication of an ASEAN Handbook on IP Rights, created jointly with ASEAN IP offices and ASEC. The handbook will address IP rights in the digital realm, providing valuable guidance and resources.

This initiative aims to support the ASEAN IPR Action Plan’s strategic goals to expand and enhance the inclusiveness of the ASEAN IP ecosystem.

Women and IP – Accelerating Innovation and Creativity

This activity aims to develop an ASEAN IP office strategy that addresses gender disparities and promotes the active participation of women in the IP sector. It seeks to identify solutions and initiatives to enhance women’s roles in innovation and creativity within the ASEAN region.

Supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, this initiative strives to ensure equal opportunities and foster a more inclusive IP environment.

Development of Performance Measurement Tools for ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2026-2030

This activity provides technical expertise to establish a monitoring system for the ASEAN IPR Action Plan post-2025. It focuses on creating a log frame with clear objectives and performance indicators to track the execution and success of the plan.

The system will include output indicators aligned with key activities and initiatives, ensuring sustainability and relevance throughout the implementation of the Action Plan 2030. SCOPE IPR experts will collaborate with ASEAN Member States, the ASEAN Secretariat, and WIPO to ensure the plan reflects the priorities of ASEAN IP offices.

Study on the Economic Impact of IP in ASEAN

This activity conducts a comprehensive study on the contribution of IP-intensive industries to the ASEAN economies, providing policymakers with evidence-based data to support IP rights reforms and raise awareness of IP’s economic significance.

External experts will analyse IP’s impact on GDP, employment, salaries and international trade, helping to guide future ASEAN IP policies.

Support to the ASEAN IPR Helpdesk for SMEs and IP Valuation Seminar for SMEs

This activity provides IT system support to enhance the ASEAN IP SME Helpdesk, assists in gathering relevant IP content and organises an IP valuation seminar for SMEs.

Implemented in line with Initiative 14 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan, it aims to improve engagement with stakeholders and external partners, including dialogue with the private sector and IP associations.

Challenges and Best Practices in the Enforcement of Geographical Indications

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen Geographical Indication (GI) systems in Southeast Asia, the SCOPE IPR Project - implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in collaboration with ASEAN - held a regional workshop in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The event brought together IP officials, experts, and stakeholders from across ASEAN to exchange experiences on enforcing GIs and identify best practices that support local producers and enhance the protection of GI products.

ASEAN Convergence Network Meeting on Trademarks

This activity aims to enhance trade mark service delivery among ASEAN IP offices by providing a platform for interactive discussions among trade mark examiners. The meeting will focus on improving the quality of trade mark examination practices and fostering harmonisation among AMS.

Supporting Initiative 2 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan, which promotes the improvement of IP services, the activity will also assist in organising the ASEAN Trademark Task Force meeting.
