The National Institute of Industrial Property of Argentina (INPI-AR) is part of DesignClass

On 12 May 2023, Argentina is set to join DesignClass. From that point forward Argentina will begin to accept the Harmonised Database of Product Indications (HDBPI) list of terms in DesignClass.

DesignClass is a tool that helps you search and translate the product indications needed to apply for design protection. It offers a set of user-friendly functions that can help users find the Harmonised Database of Product Indications (HDBPI) that best fits the products to which a design is applied.

With DesignClass applicants can search and translate product indications into 30 languages, and the latest addition of INPI-AR brings the total number of participating IP offices to 42.

The Harmonised Database of Product Indications (HDBPI) was jointly created by the EU Intellectual Property Offices (EU IP Offices) and the EUIPO in an effort to better map all the different products for which a design could be registered.

Following INPI-AR’s decision to use the HDBPI, there are now 16 non-EU IP offices in DesignClass, which use and accept the terms of this harmonised database.

The adoption of HDBPI by INPI-AR is a concrete result of the Action AL-INVEST Verde IPR, funded by the EU and implemented by the EUIPO.
