#CONEXIÓNVerde Brazil

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) will organise the event #CONEXIÓNVerde in Belém of Pará in Brazil, in collaboration with the other implementing partners of the AL-INVEST Verde programme: the development organisation sequa, the International Italo-Latin American Organisation (IIlLA), and the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Public Administration and Policy (FIAPP), in the context of the EU-funded IP cooperation project AL-INVEST Verde IPR or Component 3 the Programme.

The objectives of the EU-Funded Programme AL-INVEST Verde include promoting sustainable growth and job creation in Latin America by facilitating the transition to a low-carbon, resource-efficient economy. The programme comprises three components: Component 1 supports SMEs in Latin-America, Component 2 aids public institutions in the region, and Component 3, implemented by the EUIPO, focuses on enhancing the use and effectiveness of intellectual property rights (IPRs) in the region.

#CONEXIÓNVerde will take place in the framework of a preparatory event for the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP30) which is organised by the Confederation of Commercial and Business Associations of Brazil (CACB), Brazilian partner of the implementing consortium of Component 1 led by sequa, and the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Businesses (SEBRAE).

The event aims to enhance synergies between all Components of the AL-INVEST Verde programme and facilitate a networking platform for the exchange of relevant information among ‘Partnering Projects’. It also seeks to raise awareness about the significance of IPRs for SMEs and green entrepreneurs in supporting sustainable development, particularly within the context of the Green Agenda.

The EUIPO will bring in leading international expert speakers to discuss the link between IPRs and sustainable value chains and will organise mentoring sessions with all the producer groups selected to participate in the AL-INVmentor programme for the effective use of geographical indications.

The event contributes to expected result 2: Improved capacities of the productive sector, particularly SMEs and the scientific-academic, technological and agricultural sectors, regarding the management of IPRs (including GIs) to obtain value from innovation.

The EUIPO, as implementing agency of the EU-funded IP cooperation project AL-INVEST Verde IPR, will continue to organise similar events/activities in the region for the benefit of users.
