The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), in the framework of the EU-funded project AL-INVEST Verde IPR, in collaboration with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and its Inovateca as well as Brazil’s National Institute for Industrial Property (INPI) carried out two expert-led webinars in June and July aimed at boosting intellectual property (IP) knowledge and strategic use in the creative industries.
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), leading global authority on intellectual property, has launched the second phase of the CARIFORUM Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation project (CarIPI), an international cooperation initiative designed to strengthen the innovation and IP ecosystems across the Caribbean region.
From July 2025 to May 2026, SCOPE IPR will be actively engaging in key national and regional intellectual property (IP) events across ASEAN to increase the visibility and impact of its work. By participating in high-profile occasions such as World IP Day celebrations and other major conferences, SCOPE IPR aims to showcase the vital role of IP as a driver of socioeconomic development and sustainability in the region.
Running from August 2025 to April 2026, this regional social media campaign aims to raise awareness among ASEAN audiences about the value of intellectual property (IP) for society, creators, and businesses, especially MSMEs. As part of SCOPE IPR’s continued commitment to public education, the campaign will focus on fostering wider discussions about IP rights through engaging and accessible content.
To be held in November 2025, the ASEAN Media Knowledge Camp is designed to strengthen public understanding of intellectual property (IP) and the importance of enforcement by engaging directly with journalists and social media influencers from across the region. Supporting Initiative 12.1 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2016-2025, the activity addresses two key challenges identified through stakeholder feedback: the need to improve IP enforcement and the lack of public awareness of the benefits of IP.
From June 2025 to May 2026, this on-demand activity will provide targeted technical support to ASEAN Member States for the implementation of the forthcoming ASEAN IPR Post-2025 Action Plan. As the AWGIPC finalises its new strategy with support from WIPO, this activity ensures continuity from earlier work under SCOPE IPR, particularly in developing performance measurement tools.
To be held between August and October 2025, this seminar will shed light on the vital but often overlooked role of IP valuation and financing in business development. Many MSMEs and IP-rich businesses remain unaware of how their intangible assets can be leveraged to raise capital or secure loans. By raising awareness of IP as a financial asset, this activity aims to bridge the gap between the IP ecosystem and the financial sector.
To be held between August and October 2025, this workshop will strengthen the capacity of ASEAN IP mediators by focusing on the practical application of mediation strategies in resolving IPR disputes. As a follow-up to the IP Mediation webinar under AWP1 of the SCOPE IPR programme, the workshop responds to the growing need for alternative, cost-effective dispute resolution mechanisms that can reduce case backlogs and streamline IPR enforcement processes.
Scheduled for implementation between November and December 2025, this regional meeting brings together IP and enforcement officials, as well as private sector stakeholders, to explore the growing challenges in enforcing intellectual property rights in both physical and online marketplaces. As e-commerce and social media platforms increasingly become conduits for counterfeit trade, the activity will examine current enforcement gaps and propose practical mechanisms to reduce IPR infringement.
