Training Workshop for CARIFORUM IP Offices on regional cooperation in the areas of trade marks, designs and geographical indications

During 26-28 October 2022, the CARIFORUM Intellectual Property and Innovation project held an in-person Training Workshop for the CARIFORUM IP Offices in Castries, Saint Lucia.

The thematic focused specifically on trade marks, designs and geographical indications (GIs). Specialised training on topics related to these three intellectual property rights provided an opportunity to discuss of the work carried out under CarIPI over the past 2 years. The objective was to identify areas where CARIFORUM IPOs can enhance cooperation, and align practice and/or law for the benefit of the users.

This event is designed to contribute to the Expected Results:

  • II A network of strengthened and more efficient IP institutions, delivering timely, high quality and accessible IP rights, administration and enforcement services, benefiting micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises  ;
  • III Enhanced legal and policy frameworks in the area of trade marks, designs, GIs and plant variety rights, facilitating the participation in global protection systems in compliance with EPA provisions, and boosting regional harmonisation.
