Geographical Indications and Origin Linked Products: Mentorship Programme
In this project phase, CarIPI aims to relaunch its Origin Linked Products (OLP) Mentorship Programme on potential GIs value chains, building on the progress made during the previous project phase, when mentors from the region and the EU worked closely with producer groups to assess their business models and provide tailored recommendations to protect these OLPs. The programme has already led to two GI registrations: the Trinidad and Tobago Steelpan and the Saint Lucia Rum.
Starting from AWP 1, CarIPI will continue to support OLP producer groups in advancing their progress toward GI registration and will expand its efforts by identifying additional producer groups for targeted support. Through this work, the project seeks to strengthen the understanding of GIs and highlight their value as a tool for economic resilience. It will also explore their role as a powerful catalyst for sustainable tourism, which is an area of growing strategic importance across the region.
