Conference on regional mechanisms for the administration of IP rights

To mark the project closure at the end of April 2024, the CARIFORUM Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation project (CarIPI),  organised a final conference on regional mechanisms for the administration of intellectual property rights (IPRs) at the EUIPO in Alicante on 15-16 April 2024.

The 2-day event provided an opportunity for the CARIFORUM intellectual property offices to discuss the different regional mechanisms for administrating IPRs with the aim of finding a way forward and strengthening regional cooperation in the IP field.

The event also served to jointly evaluate the achievements of the CarIPI project and to capture ideas and priorities for the next phase, which is expected to start in the second semester of 2024.

Sub-Project Steering Committee (PSC) members, the heads of the IP offices of the CARIFORUM states, representatives from the EU Delegation, and the CARIFORUM Directorate were invited to participate.

Representatives from other regions (e.g. the OECS Commission, ARIPO and/or OAPI) also attended the event and shared their experiences.
