Workshop on IP for women entrepreneurs

ARISE+ IPR carried out a ‘Study on the role and involvement of women in the community-based industries related to IPR in ASEAN’. As a follow up, ARISE+ IPR organised a ‘Workshop on IP for Women Entrepreneurs’ on 30 November and 2 December 2021. The idea was to encourage further discussions on female entrepreneurship and gender disparity in the ASEAN region and the place of female entrepreneurs in several sectors, such as community-based industries and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The workshop provided information on the benefits of IP for female entrepreneurs and showed how IP can be used as an asset to improve their economic status. The discussion topics included:

  • the state of women in the innovation ecosystem in 2021;
  • the importance of involving women in STEM-based learning;
  • the success of IP promotion for women-dominated industries in the EU;
  • creating gendered policies to improve the economic situation of women.

The roundtable discussions were attended by, among others, representatives from the EU, the ASEAN Secretariat, and community-based industries.
