AL-INVEST Verde IPR and SEBRAE support the Deep Tech Summit 2023
Driving innovation and sustainable competitiveness through intellectual property
AL-INVEST Verde IPR, in partnership with the Brazilian Support Service for SMEs (SEBRAE), supported the Deep Tech Summit 2023 organised by CATALISA ICT. The event focused on accelerating the integration of intellectual property (IP) as a driver of research and development in the field of deep tech, underlining the importance of synergies between academia and business.
Brazil’s leading deep tech innovation festival took place on 8-9 November in São Paulo, Brazil. CATALISA ICT is a SEBRAE initiative to accelerate and promote innovative technology-based businesses to boost the generation of wealth and well-being. It works by creating technology-based companies for master's and doctoral students, transferring technology from universities to companies, and inserting qualified human capital in SMEs.
With more than 90 speakers and an outstanding showcase of start-ups, the Deep Tech Summit 2023 was a pivotal event for investors, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, scientists, researchers and universities to promote connections, debates and market breakthroughs in disruptive technologies. The Summit provided an ideal environment to promote the effective use of IP for a competitive and sustainable economy in Latin America, especially among start-ups.
AL-INVEST Verde IPR’s distinctive contribution to the Summit was to introduce the specific topic of IP protection and commercialisation to support innovation in deep techs. The international experts invited by AL-INVEST Verde IPR, Josep M. Piqué, Marcelo Grabois and Karina Haidar Müller, addressed the importance of the strategic use of IP to facilitate monetisation of intangible assets , and the effective management of contracts and IP with universities. In addition, the AL-INVEST Verde IPR Action Leader, Mariano Riccheri, highlighted the relevance of the EU project collaboration in this important field in Brazil and Latin America.
