Conference on regional mechanisms for the administration of IP rights

To mark the project closure at the end of April 2024, the CARIFORUM Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation project (CarIPI),  organised a final conference on regional mechanisms for the administration of intellectual property rights (IPRs) at the EUIPO in Alicante on 15-16 April 2024.

The 2-day event provided an opportunity for the CARIFORUM intellectual property offices to discuss the different regional mechanisms for administrating IPRs with the aim of finding a way forward and strengthening regional cooperation in the IP field.

Belize joins TMview

As of 26 February 2024, the Belize Intellectual Property Office (BELIPO) has made its trade mark data available to the TMview search tool.

With BELIPO on board of TMview, the tool now contains data from 76 participating offices.

With the addition of more than 19.966 trade marks from BELIPO, TMview now provides information and access to more than 120 million trade marks in total.

CarIPI participates on the V Project Steering Committee Meeting

At the fifth Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting of 9 February 2024, in Bridgetown, Barbados, the CARIFORUM Innovation and Intellectual Property Project (CarIPI) project presented a summary report on the part it played in the 11th European Development Fund Support Programme. In addition, it presented a schedule and gave timelines for the activities it has planned for 2024.

Innovation and Intellectual Property for Sustainable MSMEs in CARIFORUM SIDS

On 16 February, the CARIFORUM Intellectual Property and Innovation Project (CarIPI) joined forces with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the Commerce and Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to host a hybrid session on Blue Horizons: Innovation and Intellectual Property (IP) for Sustainable Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

IP Caselaw Conference for CARIFORUM, MERCOSUR and Chile

From 5 to 6 March 2024, the CARIFORUM Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation project (CarIPI), in collaboration with the AL-INVEST Verde IPR project, the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) Academy for Law, and the Jamaica Intellectual Property Office (JIPO), hosted an IP Caselaw Conference for judges from Chile, CARIFORUM and MERCOSUR Member States and legal IP practitioners based in Jamaica.
