EUIPO discusses international cooperation with Latin-American IP offices in Geneva

During the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) 65th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies that took place in Geneva, Switzerland, that started on 9 July 2024, a European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) delegation met with Latin American intellectual property (IP) offices to discuss recent developments and bilateral cooperation activities, as well as international cooperation activities funded by the European Union (EU).

EU-RoK IP Action will enhance intellectual property cooperation between the EU and the Republic of Korea

On 3 July 2024, the launch event of the recently started project “EU-RoK Intellectual Property Action” was celebrated in Seoul.

The event was inaugurated by H.E. María Castillo Fernández, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Korea and Mr. Peob Min Ryu, Director General of FTA Negotiations of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) of the Republic of Korea.

Study launch: Support to the modernisation of Guidelines in MERCOSUR countries – Paraguay

Objective: provide support in drafting the first "Ex-Novo" guidelines for examination of trade marks in Paraguay. These guidelines will enhance the accessibility, transparency and predictability of the examination practice of trade marks in Paraguay. Any changes will be made according to Paraguayan law, using published legal documents as a main reference. This initiative is part of a wider scope to support the approximation of practices between the EU and MERCOSUR countries.

Study launch: Support to the modernisation of IP Guidelines in MERCOSUR countries – Uruguay

Objective: to provide assistance in updating the Uruguayan guidelines on trade mark examination. This will make them more user-friendly, clear, and predictable. Any changes will be made with Uruguayan trade mark law in mind, using published legal documents as a main reference. This initiative is part of a wider scope to support the approximation of practices between the EU and MERCOSUR countries.
