GI Meeting with Haitian Stakeholders

On 11 April 2022, the CarIPI project met with stakeholders in Haiti to:

• discuss the regional GI Manual draft
• present the mentorship programme for producers and producer groups of origin-linked products.

The GI Manual serves as a guide to the process of developing and implementing codes of practice and controls and registering a geographical indication. After a first consultation with all CARIFORUM stakeholders, the draft was now discussed specifically with the interested parties in Haiti, in French.

During the meeting, CarIPI also presented to potential producers in Haiti the work that has been done so far with GI producers in the CARIFORUM region under the mentorship programme. The programme provides technical assistance in developing business strategies based on IP rights. The objective is to enhance the competitiveness of unique products (agricultural and non-agricultural) from the region.
