ARISE+ IPR delivers Singapore Treaty assessment study to Lao PDR

An assessment study on the Singapore Treaty on the Law of Trademarks (STLT) for Lao PDR has been undertaken by the ARISE+ IPR project in close collaboration with the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Science and Technology, of Lao PDR. The study focuses on assessing the benefits for Lao PDR of joining the STLT, the compatibility of its law and practice with the STLT provisions, and the steps necessary to prepare for accession.

The STLT standardises formality requirements for the registration of trademarks at the international level, making registration procedures more predictable across jurisdictions for trademark proprietors. Over 60 countries have implemented the STLT.
