National Action Plan (or Roadmap) for IP enforcement in AGEPI
This activity supports the State Agency on Intellectual Property of Moldova (AGEPI) in developing a national roadmap for Intellectual Property (IP) rights enforcement. Cooperation between AGEPI and relevant European enforcement stakeholders is contemplated to share best practices and knowledge to build a national action plan and based on the European Commission recommendation that Moldova should focus in particular on developing a policy on the fight against counterfeiting and piracy.
In the 2023 Enlargement Report, Moldova had some level of preparation in the area of IP rights. However, it was recommended that Moldova should focus in particular its efforts on developing a policy on the fight against counterfeiting and piracy. Therefore, this supports AGEPI in one of its key priorities and to develop a national Action Map (Roadmap) for IP rights enforcement.
On 2-3 April in Chișinău, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) facilitated an IP enforcement workshop, which brought together key stakeholders, including members of the Observatory on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Moldova, EU officials, and experts from Bulgaria and Romania, facilitated discussions to assess Moldova’s current enforcement legal framework and support its alignment with the EU acquis. As the host of the European Observatory on Infringement of IP Rights, the EUIPO brings together a wide range of stakeholders who use their technical skills, experience, and knowledge to protect and promote IP rights and support those directly engaged in IP enforcement, demonstrating its commitment to promoting IP protection and its leadership in the global IP landscape.
