The EUIPO facilitates an IP enforcement workshop in the Republic of Moldova

The EUIPO, as a leading actor in the global IP landscape, led a two-day workshop on the Action Plan for IP Enforcement in Moldova, held on 2-3 April 2025 in Chișinău, in the framework of the EU-funded EU4IP project, demonstrating its commitment to promoting IP protection and supporting the development of IP systems in the region. The workshop, which brought together key stakeholders, including members of the Observatory on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Moldova, EU officials, and experts from Bulgaria and Romania, facilitated discussions to assess Moldova’s current enforcement legal framework and support its alignment with the EU acquis, showcasing the EUIPO's role as a host of the Observatory on Infringements.

The event, which was an example of the EUIPO's efforts to promote convergence of practices and support the development of IP systems, focused on reviewing Moldova’s IP enforcement system, identifying challenges, and sharing European best practices to support the development of Moldova’s National IP Enforcement Action Plan, in line with Moldova’s commitments under the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and its EU accession process. The workshop provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange expertise on IP enforcement challenges, demonstrating the EUIPO's commitment to creating a business environment that is more akin to that found in Europe.

The EUIPO, through the EU4IP project, continues to support Moldova in aligning its IP enforcement system with EU standards and establishing IP alliances among enforcement agencies, legislators, and IP offices, as part of its strategic vision to promote IP protection and its leadership in the global IP landscape. The discussions and recommendations from this event will contribute to the drafting of Moldova’s National IP Enforcement Action Plan, reinforcing its capacity to tackle counterfeiting, piracy, and IP infringements, and demonstrating the EUIPO's commitment to supporting the development of IP systems in the region.

As the host of the European Observatory on Infringement of IP Rights, the EUIPO brings together a wide range of stakeholders who use their technical skills, experience, and knowledge to protect and promote IP rights and support those directly engaged in IP enforcement, demonstrating its commitment to promoting IP protection and its leadership in the global IP landscape.
