Online training on new types of designs and international classification
As a follow-up activity to the training course ASEAN Common Guidelines on the Registrations of Industrial Designs held in October 2019, ARISE+ IPR organised online training sessions on new types of designs and international classification on 21 and 23 July 2020. The training sessions helped ASEAN design examiners and legal officers in their field of work by providing knowledge on new types of designs and best practices in search, examination, and classification. The online training course was divided into two sessions. The topics covered best practices in examination and classification of new types of designs, i.e., icons, Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) and Virtual/Non-Physical designs, and efficient use of available database search tools and other sources for unregistered designs. Among the speakers were design experts from the EUIPO, EU Member States IP offices and from ASEAN Member States IP Offices.
