The African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization, are delivering a comprehensive Intellectual Property (IP) Master’s Programme in English to three universities in Africa: the Africa University in Zimbabwe, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana and the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) in Tanzania.

The 2023/2024 Master’s Programme includes distance learning, face-to-face lectures, research work, internships, and a final examination. Some of the distance learning programme modules will be delivered by the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the European Patent Office (EPO).

An EUIPO expert gave a lecture at UDSM on 17 March 2023 on trade mark protection in the European Union. The EUIPO will also give lectures to the other two universities throughout the year until November 2023.

This initiative is part of Activity 21, ‘Expert support for the ARIPO Master’s training programme’ of AfrIPI’s third annual work plan. Simultaneously, with its support to universities in the ARIPO Member States, AfrIPI is contributing to the OAPI by delivering lectures at the University of Yaounde II.
