EUIPO Brings IP-Backed Finance to the 2026 IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) participated in a high-level discussion on financing innovation during the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand, on 13 October 2026.

EUIPO Deputy Executive Director Andrea Di Carlo joined the roundtable, “Financing Innovation via Intangible Assets: Unlocking Growth through IP-Backed Finance”, which formed part of the official programme of the Annual Meetings. The discussion placed intellectual property and intangible assets within the broader international conversation on access to finance, innovation, productivity and competitiveness.

During the exchange, the EUIPO presented findings from its study “IP-backed Finance in Europe”, bringing its work on the use of IP assets in financing to an audience of senior economic and financial stakeholders.

The roundtable provided a platform to discuss the potential of intellectual property as a business and financial asset and the role that IP-backed finance can play in supporting innovative enterprises seeking access to capital.

The EUIPO continues to develop its work on IP-backed finance and to promote dialogue between the intellectual property, financial and innovation communities at international levels.
