The EU4IP project’s main objective is to contribute to an adequate and effective level of registration, protection and enforcement of IP rights in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The goal is to keep in line with European and international best practices, adhering to the commitments outlined in their respective Association Agreements and supporting the future opening of negotiations for their EU accession.
EU4IP cooperates on the following components:
-
enhancing legal and policy frameworks, supporting the EU accession process, implementing IP provisions of trade agreements and promoting international agreements in the area of IP.
-
strengthening IP institutions, networks and tools for an efficient IP protection system, boosting regional harmonisation and progressive alignment to the rules, standards, policies and practices, with a view to EU membership;
-
raising awareness on the value of IP and capacity of SMEs and the productive sector to protect, administer, commercialise and enforce their IP rights;
-
increasing cooperation on enforcing IP rights in line with the Association Agreement’s commitments and priorities of the accession process, including the fight against counterfeited goods.
This EU-funded project is implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) with an initial duration of 48 months, starting from 1 January 2024.
