The EU4IP project to strengthen Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in Enlargement and Neighbourhood, is an international cooperation project funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Component 1 of the EU4IP project covers Armenia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
The EU4IP project’s overall objective is to use IP as an instrument in creating a favourable environment for innovation, creativeness and free competition, for the economic and cultural development of Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine, strengthening its SMEs potential, raising the level of investment attractiveness. EU4IP’s objectives will be achieved by focusing on four expected results:
This EU-funded project is implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) with an initial duration of 60 months, starting from 1 January 2024.
- enhancing legal and policy frameworks, supporting the EU accession process, implementing IP provisions of trade agreements and promoting international agreements in the area of IP
- strengthening IP institutions, networks and tools for a more efficient IP protection system, supporting regional harmonisation and a progressive alignment to rules, standards, policies and practices, with a view to EU membership.
- increasing awareness on the value of IP and strengthening the capacity of SMEs and the productive sector to protect, administer, commercialise and enforce their IP rights.
- enhancing cooperation on enforcement of IP rights in line with the Trade Agreements’ commitments and priorities of the accession process, including the fight against counterfeited goods.
