Promoting inclusivity through trade marks, industrial designs and geographical indications
Planned for July and August 2026, this activity focuses on promoting inclusive participation in the IP system by supporting under-represented groups, particularly women entrepreneurs and youth innovators across ASEAN Member States. Through targeted capacity-building sessions, the initiative aims to equip participants with practical knowledge on the protection, management and commercialisation of trade marks, industrial designs and geographical indications (GIs). By improving access to IP tools, the activity helps empower these groups to grow their businesses and actively contribute to the region’s innovation landscape.
Aligned with Strategic Measure 5 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2026-2030, the sessions support inclusive and sustainable economic growth so that all sectors of society can benefit from the IP system. Delivered through small group workshops and mentorship programmes in collaboration with ASEAN IP Offices, the sessions will provide tailored coaching and hands-on guidance. The initiative may be implemented alongside the roving seminars under Activity 6. It is designed to be scalable and adaptable to the specific needs of ASEAN Member States, with a particular focus on rural communities and emerging entrepreneurs.
