Madrid Protocol Workshop: Strengthening Trade Mark Systems Across ASEAN
In August 2025, SCOPE IPR will be holding a regional workshop in Thailand and Malaysia to enhance the knowledge of ASEAN trade mark examiners and IP attorneys on the Madrid Protocol. This in-person workshop will provide in-depth guidance on the operation of the international trade mark registration system, including recent updates, best practices from ASEAN and EU experts, and hands-on exercises using real case examples. Participants will also explore how online tools can support the efficient management of Madrid applications and registrations.
The workshop will help ensure IP professionals can deliver high-quality support to businesses, especially MSMEs, seeking protection abroad. By promoting a deeper understanding of Madrid procedures, including when and how to use the system effectively, the activity supports Strategic Goal 4 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2016-2025.
With stronger capacities among IP advisors and examiners, ASEAN businesses will benefit from more consistent and informed guidance on international trade mark protection.
