ASEAN Media Knowledge Camp: Advancing IP Awareness and Enforcement
To be held in November 2025, the ASEAN Media Knowledge Camp is designed to strengthen public understanding of intellectual property (IP) and the importance of enforcement by engaging directly with journalists and social media influencers from across the region. Supporting Initiative 12.1 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2016-2025, the activity addresses two key challenges identified through stakeholder feedback: the need to improve IP enforcement and the lack of public awareness of the benefits of IP. By empowering media professionals and influencers with knowledge about IP, the activity aims to amplify accurate and compelling messages to diverse public audiences across ASEAN.
The three-day knowledge-sharing camp will feature expert-led sessions by ASEAN and EU IP professionals, IP owners, and legal practitioners, giving participants a well-rounded understanding of how IP supports creativity, innovation, and economic growth. Journalists and influencers will explore the role they can play in promoting IP awareness and enforcement through content creation and storytelling. A study visit to an IP-based business will provide real-world insight into the value of IP to local communities and industries. Organised back-to-back with a regional IP event, the camp will help build long-term networks between media professionals and the IP community to support sustained outreach across ASEAN.
