Seven Egyptian judges visited EUIPO for a study visit organised by AfrIPI

From 6 to 13 July 2022, AfrIPI invited seven Egyptian judges to the EUIPO for a study visit. The visit intended to provide members of the Egyptian Council of State with a better understanding of the EUIPO’s working processes and to amend the draft Egyptian trade mark and design rules. This was accomplished through meetings with specific departments, as well as unique workshops to enhance and clarify understanding of the guidelines methodology.

ARISE+ IPR joins the ASEAN-EU Cooperation Expo 2022

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the European Union (EU) celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Dialogue Relations with the ASEAN-EU Cooperation Expo 2022 from 6 May 2022 until the end of the year. The Expo, which is held on a virtual event platform, will highlight ASEAN-EU cooperation, including the organisation of a series of events where ASEAN-EU projects are invited to participate as exhibitors. It is open to the public.

IP experts visit Georgian enforcement authorities

The IP enforcement experts contracted by EUGIPP under the activity related to a comparative analysis between the Georgian and EU enforcement systems of intellectual property rights (IPRs) will visit the enforcement authorities of Georgia from 11 to 13 July.

The purpose of this visit is to meet bilaterally with the main IP enforcement stakeholders in Georgia and discuss the guidelines and legislative amendments drafted in the context of the comparative study.

Draft law amendments on trade marks and designs finalised

The EU-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP) has been supporting the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia (Sakpatenti) to develop amendments to the law on trade marks and designs in line with EU legislation. IP experts spent several months working in close collaboration with Sakpatenti to draft the amendments. These have now been completed and translated into Georgian.

The Africa IP SME Helpdesk participates in the Flanders Investment & Trade Export Fair in Brussels

From Tuesday 21 June to Thursday 23 June 2022, the 4th Export Fair organised by Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) took place once again in the Brussels Expo event complex.

The Africa IP SME Helpdesk participated in the event – which was attended by over 820 participants – along with the European Commission’s International IP Helpdesks for China, India, Latin America and south-east Asia.
