Trade Mark Examiners from Latin America Train in 3D Trade Marks under the EUIPO Umbrella

In an effort to foster cooperation and harmonisation in the field of intellectual property (IP), trade mark examiners from MERCOSUR and Chile came together to participate in specialised training on three-dimensional trade marks.

The event, ‘Training on the Practice of Trade Mark Examination: 3D Trade Marks’, was held online and was attended by prominent representatives of the IP offices of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

Webinar on Intellectual Property, Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions for Dominica

On 18 October 2023, the CARIFORUM Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation (CarIPI) project, the World Intellectual Property Office, and the Registrar of the Companies and Intellectual Property Office of Dominica, held a webinar together on the subject of intellectual property, traditional knowledge and traditional expressions. 

The aim of this activity was to raise intellectual property awareness among public officials and stakeholders in the indigenous and local communities in Dominica.

IP in School Project: Train the Trainer Workshops

From 27 to 28 November 2023, the CARIFORUM Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation project organised a webinar series of ‘train the trainer’ courses for primary and secondary school teachers from Antigua and Barbuda, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Education experts introduced CarIPI’s IP in Education project. The sessions included an overview of materials created by the EUIPO and pedagogical methodologies to educate students on intellectual property.

This online event is co-organized by the EUIPO and the European Patent Office (EPO).

This full online event aims to increase the knowledge and capacity of IT experts from the Mercosur and other Latin American Intellectual Property Offices in relation to new cutting-edge technologies, easing the path to knowledge technology transfer from leading IPOs.
