ARISE+ IPR launches its first General awareness campaign in the South-East Asia region

In 2020, the EU-funded project ARISE+ IPR launched a general awareness campaign devoted to project stakeholders, local businesses, and the public lasting until 29 January 2021. Some of the highlights include facts about national GIs (Geographical Indications) in ASEAN, the benefits of GIs in the EU, the Hague system's implementation at the EU and the Geneva Act, and the new features on the project website.

Webinar ‘The Madrid System in Antigua and Barbuda’

This webinar aims to enhance knowledge and skills of the business sector in Antigua and Barbuda on the use of the Madrid International Registration System. In promoting the Madrid Sytem, CarIPI wants to promote global branding among A&B entrepreneurs.

This webinar is part of activity 15 of the CarIPI work plan, which encourages the private sector (especially SMEs, micro-enterprises and indigenous communities) to create, protect and manage their own value chains and use IPR as a competitive tool.

Online training on Madrid System operations

On 17 December CarIPI organised a virtual on-the-job training for officials from Caribbean IPOs on the implementation of Madrid System operations.

The participating IP offices, such as Trinidad and Tobago, where the Madrid International Registration System entered into force on 12 January 2021, benefitted from this training particularly focussed on the role of the IPO as an Office of Origin and as the Office of a designated Contracting Party.

GI Model law – regional consultation with IPOs and EPA coordinators

In 2020, the CarIPI project started to develop a model Geographical Indication (GI) law which can be used by CARIFORUM States to modernise their legal frameworks. As a first step, a review of the currently-applicable legislation on GIs in the 16 CARIFORUM states was conducted and feedback shared and discussed with the IPOs of each country.

Sakpatenti to translate e-learning courses on IP for Georgian users

The EUGIPP is actively supporting the IP Training Centre of Georgia (SIPTCG). In cooperation with the EUIPO Academy, the project team discussed with Sakpatenti’s training experts about potential learning needs.

Sakpatenti analysed the EUIPO learning catalogue and identified specific courses to target small businesses and enforcement authorities. Such courses are now going to be translated, edited with subtitles and put at the disposal of end users.
