Support for ASEAN innovation through ASPEC and other IP task forces/groups

Running from June to December 2026, this activity provides targeted support to strengthen innovation and regional cooperation within ASEAN Member States. Its focus will be on the ASEAN Patent Examination Cooperation (ASPEC) programme, as well as related IP task forces and working groups, to enhance the effectiveness of regional IP collaboration mechanisms. These include the Community of Practice (under ASPEC), as well as the Trade Mark Task Force (TMTF), Industrial Design Task Force (IDTF), and the ASEAN Network of IPR Enforcement Experts (ANIEE).

Aligned with Strategic Measure 2 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2026-2030, this activity supports the harmonisation of regulatory frameworks and the strengthening of ASEAN IP institutions. Through workshops, outreach initiatives and capacity-building sessions, it will promote greater awareness of and engagement in the ASPEC programme and related cooperation mechanisms. Alongside this, the activity will support the implementation of recommendations from relevant feasibility studies. Delivered in coordination with ASEAN Member States and the ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Property Cooperation (AWGIPC), this initiative reinforces regional collaboration and contributes to a more efficient, interconnected and innovative IP system in ASEAN Member States.
