ASEAN Design Award

This activity, running from June 2026 to January 2027, establishes the ASEAN Design Award as a regional initiative to promote excellence in industrial design and to recognise the creativity and innovation of ASEAN designers. Building on the legacy of the Creative ASEAN Design Awards, the initiative will be re-launched under the broader framework of the IP Excellence Award. It aims to highlight the strategic importance of design protection while encouraging greater awareness of IP rights among designers, innovators and the wider public.

Aligned with Strategic Measure 5 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2026-2030, the award contributes to fostering inclusive and sustainable growth by supporting access to opportunities for creators across the region. The initiative will recognise outstanding and innovative designs, promote design protection and strengthen ASEAN’s role as a hub for creativity and innovation. The awards structure – including categories, nomination processes and jury composition – will be defined through regional consultations and may include mentorship programmes for women and youth designers. The awarding ceremony will be organised in collaboration with ASEAN partners and will be hosted in either Indonesia or the Philippines, reinforcing regional ownership and visibility of the initiative.
