Regional trade mark examination workshop for new examiners

This activity, running from July to December 2026, provides targeted capacity-building for new trade mark examiners across ASEAN Member States. It aims to strengthen consistency and quality in substantive examination practices. The workshop supports the development of a more harmonised approach to trade mark examination by aligning methodologies with international best practices and enhancing the technical competencies of new examiners. It also reinforces the broader role of IP offices in delivering predictable, efficient and user-centric services to applicants.

Aligned with Strategic Measure 1 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2026-2030, the activity contributes to building digitally empowered IP offices capable of responding to evolving technological and market developments. The workshop will include training on substantive examination, the use of digital tools, and the impact of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, on IP administration and enforcement. It will also provide participants with opportunities to exchange best practices with ASEAN IP Offices and the EUIPO. These efforts will help strengthen regional cooperation along with more consistent and effective trade mark examination across ASEAN Member States.
