Support for the promotion of the music and/or audiovisual industries in Moldova

Target Country: Moldova
IPR area: Awareness-raising

Building on the achievements and lessons of the 2025 Collective Management Organisation (CMO) workshops and copyright-related legislative alignment activities, this new initiative aims to further strengthen the governance, transparency, and operational capacity of CMOs in Moldova.

Following the legislative reforms in the field of copyright and related rights, Moldova has made substantial progress in modernising its copyright framework and fostering dialogue between public authorities, rightsholders, and CMOs. The next step is to consolidate these advances through more targeted, sector-specific, and practical capacity-building activities.

The initiative responds to priorities identified during the Regional Conference and the 33rd Anniversary of State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (September 2025), where creators, CMOs, and policymakers addressed key challenges of the digital era. These included ensuring fair remuneration for creators in online markets; strengthening representation and inclusivity for diverse creators; protecting works against online infringement and misuse through AI tools; balancing AI as both a creative tool and a potential legal challenge (liability, authorship, and content responsibility).

Through focused collaboration and exchange of best practices with European CMOs, this activity will translate those discussions into short- and medium-term actionable measures, enhancing Moldova’s copyright ecosystem and aligning it more closely with European standards.
