The EUIPO Supports National Workshop on IP Enforcement - Calculation of Damages and Valuation of IP Infringements in the Republic of Moldova
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), through the EU-funded EU4IP Project, supported the organisation of a National Workshop on ‘IPR Enforcement: Calculation of Damages and Valuation of IP Infringements’, held between 27 and 28 November 2025 in Chișinău.
Hosted by the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI), the two-day event brought together judges, prosecutors, police officers, intellectual property (IP) rights holders and members of the Moldovan IPR Observatory to strengthen capacities in the assessment and valuation of IP infringements.
Building on the successful cooperation between the EUIPO and AGEPI, the initiative contributes to the implementation of the National IPR Enforcement Action Plan, supported by the EU4IP. It aims to align Moldova’s enforcement practices with EU standards, particularly those set out in Directive 2004/48/EC on the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
The programme featured contributions from international experts representing the EU Member States, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), as well as speakers from the private sector. Sessions covered topics such as the calculation of damages, valuation of infringed goods and best practices for cooperation between enforcement authorities and rights holders.
Through its Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights, the EUIPO shared the European perspective on damage assessment and enforcement cooperation, promoting practical exchanges between Moldovan and EU enforcement authorities.
This activity forms part of the EUIPO’s broader commitment to supporting the Republic of Moldova in its EU integration process, by strengthening IP enforcement mechanisms and ensuring that local authorities and judicial actors can effectively protect the rights of creators, innovators and businesses.
