Promoting Trade Mark and Design Protection for MSMEs and Innovators in ASEAN
To address gaps in access to intellectual property (IP) knowledge among micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and local creators, SCOPE IPR will be conducting a series of in-person roving webinars and seminars on trade mark and industrial design protection in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand between July and August 2025.
These events will focus on raising awareness of national, regional, and international IP systems, including the Madrid Protocol and Hague Agreement, while providing practical guidance on filing and managing IP assets using available tools and online platforms. Participants will also be introduced to the concept of IP valuation to understand better how their intangible assets contribute to business growth.
This initiative responds to the growing need for learning opportunities that are more accessible to MSMEs and local innovators, and aligns with Strategic Goal 4 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2016–2025. By showcasing both ASEAN and EU IP systems, the seminars aim to strengthen regional capacities, support commercialisation efforts, and encourage creators and businesses to make full use of IP protection.
Target participants include MSMEs, designers, startups, practitioners, academics, and government officials working in trade, commerce, science, and innovation.
