European Intellectual Property Prosecutors Network (EIPPN) workshop in WIPO
European Intellectual Property Prosecutors Network (EIPPN) workshop in WIPO 2024
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) organised the European Intellectual Property Prosecutors Network (EIPPN) international workshop on IP Crime prosecution on 12 and 13 September 2024, with the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The event’s 2024 edition took place in Geneva, Switzerland, and was attended by delegates from Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
The workshop gathered about 60 IP prosecutors, judges and experts from various EU Member States and non-EU countries, to share knowledge and learn from different enforcement systems. Its aim was to provide prosecutors with the tools and expertise to improve practices in their own countries while fostering cooperation on IP matters among stakeholders. Hosted within the EUIPO, the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights plays a leading role in IP enforcement issues, which has been instrumental in nurturing the network of judges and prosecutors.
The objective of the EIPPN, which covers cooperation among EU Member States, Eurojust and other stakeholders, is to share knowledge and expertise to improve the collective investigating and prosecuting capacity to address cross-border violations of IPR. This network, extended to EU candidate countries, paves the way for a strategic cooperation agreement among members of the network to expand existing collaboration in the support of European (and international) prosecutors working with cases concerning violations of IP rights, with a special focus on online marketplaces.
European Intellectual Property Prosecutors Network (EIPPN) workshop in WIPO 2025
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) hosted a three-day series of enforcement-focused meetings at its premises in Alicante, Spain, from 10 to 12 September 2025. In cooperation with Eurojust under the EUIPO´s IP Alliance on capacity building coordination, these included an exchange of experiences with Western Balkans and EU judicial and law enforcement authorities on intellectual property (IP) crimes and the 12th edition of the European Intellectual Property Prosecutors Network (EIPPN) meeting.
The meetings provided a platform for Moldovan and Ukrainian experts to exchange best practices, discuss common challenges in fighting IP crime and strengthen judicial cooperation with peers from the Western Balkans and EU Member States. Building on last year’s successful participation, Moldovan and Ukrainian representatives contributed to the growing dialogue among prosecutors across the region.
