Innovation and Intellectual Property for Sustainable MSMEs in CARIFORUM SIDS
On 16 February, the CARIFORUM Intellectual Property and Innovation Project (CarIPI) joined forces with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the Commerce and Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to host a hybrid session on Blue Horizons: Innovation and Intellectual Property (IP) for Sustainable Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
This activity focused specifically on innovation and IP in the context of the blue economy, building on WIPO’s existing work in the region and CarIPI’s Origin-Linked-Products mentorship programme. The target producer groups for this activity include those involved in the blue economy, such as Saint Lucia Sea Moss, Bahamas Sponge, Bahamas Rock Salt, and Grenadines Sea Salt.
The CARIFORUM SIDS are among the world’s coastal and island nations, where the ocean is of significant jurisdictional importance and a source of opportunities for future growth. These nations are strategically looking to the ocean to address challenges related to food security, poverty alleviation, and economic development.
This webinar is part of CarIPI’s AWP4, Activity 21: ‘Innovation in the Blue Economy’.
