Cohort 1 Mentorship Programme – Online Meetings
On 19 January 2024, CarIPI will hold an online wrap up meeting, hosting its Origin-linked Products (OLPs) producers’ groups from Cohort 1 of the Mentorship Programme. They will go through the recommendations made by experts on how these groups can improve their product using intellectual property (IP) tools.
The meeting builds on the face-to-face technical sessions where mentors offered their specialised knowledge in several areas. Including helping producers select the most suitable IP tools for their OLPs, creating parameters for these products, enhancing the capacity of participating producer groups to handle the IP management system, and providing direction in crafting brand and marketing strategies that align with their products and selected IP tools.
The CarIPI OLP Mentorship Programme is designed to provide producers with technical assistance to develop business strategies based on IP rights. Enhancing competitiveness of unique agricultural and non-agricultural products produced in the CARIFORUM region. Aiming to assist producers in devising intellectual property (IP) strategies to secure certifications for their products as Geographical Indications (GIs), certification marks or collective marks. The programme aims to extend this protection to the European Union through ongoing bilateral negotiations between CARIFORUM and the EU.
