The EUIPO supports Ukraine’s participation in the meeting of the Expert Group on Industrial Property Policy
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), through the EU-funded EU4IP project, supported the participation of two Ukrainian representatives in the meeting of the Expert Group on Industrial Property Policy (GIPP), which took place on 17 February 2026 in Brussels.
The meeting was organised by the European Commission and brought together EU Member States and relevant stakeholders to take stock of the progress made in implementing the Commission Recommendation on measures to combat counterfeiting and enhance the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
Ukrainian participation in the GIPP meeting reflects the commitments made under Ukraine’s accelerated EU accession process. Discussions focused on the implementation of enforcement-related measures, the sharing of best practices and identified challenges. Recent analytical work related to the application of the IP Enforcement Directive was also discussed.
Through its support for Ukraine’s engagement in EU-level expert fora, the EUIPO is contributing to strengthening institutional capacity and reinforcing alignment with EU practices on intellectual property enforcement. This engagement also reflects the EUIPO’s broader role in supporting EU policies on intellectual property and innovation, including through its work as the host of the EU Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.
By facilitating participation in policy-focused discussions at EU level, the EU-funded EU4IP project supports Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to align its intellectual property framework with EU standards, contributing to a more predictable and robust environment for rights holders, businesses and consumers.
