CARIFORUM Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation

Innovation and creativity continue to be powerful drivers for sustainable economic growth, and strong intellectual property systems remain essential for unlocking the value of ideas and cultural assets.

CarIP II builds on the foundations of phase I (2019–2024) to further strengthen the IP landscape in CARIFORUM countries. The project continues to support the development of a modern, harmonised, and more accessible IP environment that benefits businesses, creators, and society at large.

Bringing together stakeholders from the CARIFORUM countries, from the European Union, and relevant international organisations, the main goals of the project are to:

  • promote modern, harmonised IP legal frameworks and encourage the adoption to international IP treaties;
  • build more efficient and aligned IP administrations delivering high quality services, including robust IPR enforcement;
  • raise awareness of the importance of IP protection among policymakers, businesses, creators, and the public, while empowering women and youth;
  • strengthen the capacity of MSMEs/SMEs to create, manage, commercialise, and enforce their intellectual property rights.
