The Use of Geographical Indications when GI-Protected Products are Ingredients
On 31 May 2022, CarIPI held the ‘GI as ingredient’ webinar, designed mainly for producers of products protected by geographical indications (GIs). The purpose of the webinar was to improve their capabilities and explain how a GI-protected product can be used as an ingredient under certain conditions, and how those conditions might be created and sustained.
The aim of this activity was to enhance competitiveness, generate value through IPR and business strategies, and examine what regulations are required to preserve the value of the GI product or the right to exclude others from using the GI.
