The 2nd meeting of the ASEAN Design Convergence Network

To improve the ASEAN design service quality, harmonise design practices in the region, and provide a platform for the exchange of design-related trends and issues, we agreed in February 2018 that the ASEAN Design Convergence Network would be established. The 1st ASEAN Design Convergence Network Meeting was held in Kuala Lumpur on 31 October and 1 November 2019 to discuss the objectives and framework.

On 4-5 March 2021, the 2nd ASEAN Design Convergence Network Meeting was held online as a follow-up to the first meeting. The second meeting focused on the discussion of two topics identified and approved by ASEAN Member States, including ‘Graphic Representation of Design’ and ‘Disclosure on the Internet.’ The meeting was attended by senior design officials from all ASEAN IP Offices. Also, the current achievements, progress and next steps were shared during the meeting.

The convergence of practices and improving of IP services across ASEAN is vital as ASEAN countries move up the global innovation chain to ensure that consistent and high IP standards allow for the facilitation of economic development.
