EUIPO organised 5th Virtual Knowledge Exchange with MERCOSUR and Chile IP Experts on the flagship tool TMview

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) hosted the 5th Virtual Meeting of Intellectual Property (IP) Experts from MERCOSUR and Chile on 4 June 2025, organised in the framework of the AL-INVEST Verde IPR project. This technical workshop spotlighted TMview an EUIPO global search tool for trade marks—focusing on expanding adoption of the tool and impact across the region.

The event is part of a series of virtual community exchanges aimed at building a collaborative space where IP offices from MERCOSUR countries, Chile, and EU can regularly connect, share best practices, and co-develop innovative, user-oriented IP solutions. The broader objective of this initiative is to foster more harmonized, efficient, and user-friendly systems for the management of trade marks and designs.

The session aimed to foster dialogue and strengthen collaboration with the national IP offices of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Presentations explored the latest updates and functionalities of the platform, while participants shared hands-on experiences and practical strategies for successful integration.

Key topics included improving data quality, promoting institutional engagement, and addressing common challenges to implementation. The exchange helped reinforce regional cooperation and advance a shared vision of accessible, high-quality IP services tailored to user needs.

TMview is a tool developed by the EUIPO that provides access to over 130 million trade marks from 79 participating offices and has supported more than 144 million user searches since its launch in 2010. It promotes transparency and cross-border consistency in trade mark information. Through collaborating with the IP offices from MERCOSUR and Chile on key tools such as TMview , the EUIPO aims to support the development of effective and harmonized IP frameworks, contributing to stronger innovation ecosystems.
