Approach
The project adopts a multi-stakeholder approach, bringing together public authorities, judicial actors, industry representatives, academia and international experts from both the EU and China.
Key activities include:
- technical exchanges, workshops and expert dialogues;
- support to EU-China IP related policy discussions;
- research and analysis on IP-related developments;
- awareness-raising and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Special attention is given to emerging areas such as digitalisation, e-commerce, and new technologies, while also addressing broader aspects of IP systems, including legislation, enforcement practices, and dispute resolution. The project will also take into account implementation practices at different administrative levels, including provincial and local contexts, where variations in enforcement approaches may influence the experience of businesses.
Stakeholders
The project engages with a wide range of stakeholders, including:
- EU and Chinese public authorities and IP offices;
- judicial and enforcement bodies;
- EU and Chinese businesses, including SMEs;
- industry associations and chambers of commerce;
- academic and research institutions.
Expected Impact
By fostering a mutual understanding and encouraging dialogue at a technical level, the project contributes to a more transparent, efficient and balanced IP environment. The project will run for 36 months and is co-funded by the European Commission and the EUIPO.
