To be held between August and October 2025, this seminar will shed light on the vital but often overlooked role of IP valuation and financing in business development. Many MSMEs and IP-rich businesses remain unaware of how their intangible assets can be leveraged to raise capital or secure loans. By raising awareness of IP as a financial asset, this activity aims to bridge the gap between the IP ecosystem and the financial sector.
To be held between August and October 2025, this workshop will strengthen the capacity of ASEAN IP mediators by focusing on the practical application of mediation strategies in resolving IPR disputes. As a follow-up to the IP Mediation webinar under AWP1 of the SCOPE IPR programme, the workshop responds to the growing need for alternative, cost-effective dispute resolution mechanisms that can reduce case backlogs and streamline IPR enforcement processes.
Scheduled for implementation between November and December 2025, this regional meeting brings together IP and enforcement officials, as well as private sector stakeholders, to explore the growing challenges in enforcing intellectual property rights in both physical and online marketplaces. As e-commerce and social media platforms increasingly become conduits for counterfeit trade, the activity will examine current enforcement gaps and propose practical mechanisms to reduce IPR infringement.
Running from June 2025 to April 2026, this activity offers flexible, expert-led technical assistance to ASEAN Member States in response to specific national needs related to the protection and enforcement of geographical indications (GIs). It supports requests that do not require a dedicated standalone activity but are important to sustaining long-term convergence and harmonisation of GI practices across the region.

The programme is designed to strengthen every stage of the GI value chain, from product identification and name protection to marketing and enforcement.
Taking place in Indonesia in July 2025, this regional workshop will bring together new and mid-level design examiners from ASEAN IP Offices to deepen their expertise in the examination of industrial designs. With the increasing influence of digital technology and artificial intelligence on design creation and protection, the workshop will cover key topics such as the representation of designs, public policy considerations, and the use of Locarno Classification.
SCOPE IPR will be organising a regional workshop in Malaysia in August 2025 for new and mid-level trade mark examiners from ASEAN IP Offices. The workshop will focus on strengthening examiners’ capabilities in assessing both traditional and non-traditional marks, covering absolute and relative grounds for refusal. With rapid advancements in digital technology and artificial intelligence, participants will also explore how these tools can improve the timeliness and quality of trade mark examination.
In August 2025, SCOPE IPR will be holding a regional workshop in Thailand and Malaysia to enhance the knowledge of ASEAN trade mark examiners and IP attorneys on the Madrid Protocol. This in-person workshop will provide in-depth guidance on the operation of the international trade mark registration system, including recent updates, best practices from ASEAN and EU experts, and hands-on exercises using real case examples.
To address gaps in access to intellectual property (IP) knowledge among micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and local creators, SCOPE IPR will be conducting a series of in-person roving webinars and seminars on trade mark and industrial design protection in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand between July and August 2025.
