EU4IP

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), through the EU-funded EU4IP project, supported the participation of two Ukrainian representatives in the meeting of the Expert Group on Industrial Property Policy (GIPP), which took place on 17 February 2026 in Brussels.

The meeting was organised by the European Commission and brought together EU Member States and relevant stakeholders to take stock of the progress made in implementing the Commission Recommendation on measures to combat counterfeiting and enhance the enforcement of intellectual property rights.

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), in cooperation with the Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST), organised the EU4IP Stakeholder Event on 17 and 18 March 2026 at the EUIPO’s headquarters in Alicante, Spain.

In order to support Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine to strengthen the customs enforcement and combat counterfeiting and piracy in trade, the project aims at taking concrete steps to bring closer cooperation with EU authorities and thus increase the efficiency and effectiveness of IP rights enforcement.

Cross‑country cooperation in IP crime investigation and prosecution is vital for addressing the increasingly global and digital nature of intellectual property infringement. The European Intellectual Property Prosecutors Network (EIPPN), organised by EUIPO, Eurojust and World Intellectual Property Organisation, brings together prosecutors, judges, IP offices and enforcement agencies to exchange best practices, analyse trends, and strengthen joint capacity in tackling IP crime.

International conferences on IP case law and enforcement provide unique opportunities for stakeholders to exchange knowledge on best practices, emerging case law, and effective enforcement strategies. Participation in the IP Case Law Conference enables judges, IP officials and practitioners to gain insights into EU IP jurisprudence and harmonised approaches to enforcement, dispute resolution, and alternative mechanisms such as mediation.

In November 2025, Ukrainian authorities and EU experts held an initial exchange on collective management of copyright and related rights. The discussions highlighted practical issues that require continued work: transparency of royalty flows, electronic reporting, a potential future unified register of Collective Management Organisations (CMOs) and development of an Integrated Information System in line with EU legislation (Directive 2014/26/EU, Directive 2019/790/EU, Regulation 2017/1128/EU).
