Technical Exchange on SPCs and PTE Systems in the EU and the RoK

With the participation of the Ministry of Intellectual Property of Korea (MOIP), the European Commission’s DG Grow and DG Trade, this technical workshop explored the European Union’s Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs) and Korea’s Patent Term Extension (PTE) systems. 

The workshop aimed to deepening mutual understanding of the frameworks underpinning SPCs and PTE mechanisms, and foster a more predictable, innovation-friendly environment for the pharmaceutical and agrochemical sectors. 

The exchange strengthened institutional collaboration and laid the groundwork for potential future convergence in administrative practices supporting cross‑border innovation in regulated industries.
