Attachment Training on Trade Mark and Design Examination for Examiners from LDCs

ARISE+ IPR's ‘Attachment Training on Trade Mark and Design Examination for Examiners from LDCs’ is a training that focuses on Trade Mark and Design Examination for the benefit of ASEAN's Least Developed Countries (LDCs). The training was hosted by an ASEAN host trainer and facilitated by ARISE+ IPR. The training concentrated on best practices in Trade Mark and Design Examination as well as touching upon practices for the Madrid Protocol for International Registration of Trade Marks and the Hague Agreement for the International Registration of Designs.

Successful mentorship sessions hosted by the CarIPI project

From 7 to 14 February, the CARIFORUM Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation (CarIPI) team and a group of mentors met with the first cohort of the Origin Link Product (OLP) mentorship programme. In total, 11 meetings were held with different producer groups from seven CARIFORUM member states: Barbados (1), Belize (1), Dominica (1), Dominican Republic (2), Jamaica (3), Saint Lucia (1) and Trinidad and Tobago (2). A total of 100 producers, intellectual property office (IPO) officials and other value chain stakeholders, including 48 women, participated in these meetings.

AfrIPI contributes to the workshop "Women agri-food business in Africa and Europe: benefits in the economy and the sustainable development by promoting the GIs as best practices” at EABF22

During the EU-Africa Business Forum (EABF22), Deputy Team Leader of AfrIPI Gregor Schneider, will talk on: "The EU Strategy for Geographical Indications and cooperation activities for their promotion in Africa - the AfrIPI project activities". Focus will be on Women agri-food business in Africa and Europe, benefits in the economy, sustainable development, and GI best practices.

The workshop is organized by the National Chamber Network of Women Entrepreneurs of Greece and will take place on Friday, 18 February 2022, 10:00-11:30 (CET).

Consultative roundtable on enforcement of IPR for North African countries

A consultative roundtable on the enforcement of IPR for North African countries was held on the 23rd – 24th of February 2022. This online event brought together key North African IPR policymakers, enforcement and regulatory authorities, and stakeholders in order to generate a dialogue on the effective techniques and strategies for detecting, monitoring and investigating IPR infringements.

Regional workshop on the role of innovation and IP in the blue economy

On 22-24 March, CARIFORUM Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation (CarIPI) collaborated with WIPO, the University of the West Indies, and the Japan Patent Office, to hold a regional workshop on the role of Innovation and IP in the Blue Economy. Representatives from Business Support Organisations and MSME’s were invited to participate in the in-person event to be held in Barbados.
