Jamaica joins the Hague System

On 10 November 2021, the Government of Jamaica formally deposited its instrument of accession to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs.

With its entry into force on February 10 2022, Jamaica will become the 76th member of the Hague System, the unified system for industrial design registration administered by WIPO.

How does Jamaica benefit from this?

Jamaica’s accession spotlights the Hague System’s emergence as a key component of protecting industrial designs globally, offering a convenient and cost-effective solution for industrial designs worldwide and in the Caribbean region.

Jamaican nationals will now be able to secure design protection simultaneously in over 90 countries by filing one single international application, in one language, and with one set of fees.
