World IP Day initiatives at Georgian schools

The EU-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP) and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia (Sakpatenti) held a series of events to celebrate World IP Day. The objective was to raise awareness of intellectual property and to encourage creativity among school pupils through various activities.

These events took place in the framework of the activity, ‘Creativity and IP in Georgian schools’, at selected schools in the Georgian cities of Tbilisi and Gori. Under the supervision of tutors from Sakpatenti and their teachers, the pupils took part in several activities. They invented logos, crafted small objects and exhibited these works back at school. Their achievements will be presented during the official activity to close the event taking place in the next few weeks.

The activity, ‘Creativity and IP in Georgian schools’, is a pilot project that aims to help teachers and pupils become familiar with IP-related topics. Moreover, with the support of the Ideaspowered@school initiative, learning materials in Georgian were produced and made available to teachers and pupils. All of the materials are also available on the EUGIPP website.

The activity is financed by the EUGIPP aimed at supporting Sakpatenti.
