Webinar on Avoiding Trade Mark and Design Objections at the EUIPO

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), within the framework of the EU–Japan Intellectual Property Action (EU–Japan IPA), organised the webinar Avoiding TM and DS Objections at the EUIPO, held online on 23 July 2026. The session targeted IP practitioners and first-time applicants seeking to enhance their trade mark and design filing strategies, providing practical insights into common challenges encountered during examination procedures at the EUIPO.

During the webinar, EUIPO experts presented the most frequent objections raised in trade mark and design examinations, including issues related to misclassification, lack of distinctiveness and conflicts with earlier rights. Drawing on their examination experience, the speakers shared practical guidance and best practices aimed at improving application quality and increasing the likelihood of successful registration. The activity contributed to strengthening participants’ understanding of EU trade mark and design protection and supported more effective use of the EUIPO registration system.

Delivered in English and Japanese with simultaneous interpretation.
